Dinosaurs
and Ice Age Exhibition is now displayed at Tel Aviv Eretz Israel museum garden
during July and August 2016. The exhibition includes dinosaurs and animals from
the Ice Age in full scale, a 3D movie and an interactive area. The exhibitions
is especially suited for small children but the older ones and adults will find
it interesting.
The
Dinosaurs Area
When you
enter the exhibition you will find yourself in the dinosaurs area – the
dinosaurs age. About 43 full size models (some huge) were installed in an open
area in the museum garden. Some of the modes are interactive – they move and
growl. The little ones get really excited from it! Each dinosaur has a sign (in
Hebrew) explaining its origin, zoological family, etc. You can also rent an
audio guide for 15 nis (exists in Hebrew, English, and soon in Russian) that
provides a lot of interesting information. Did you know that the teeth of some
dinosaurs are as big as a kitchen knife?! I never thought about this. When it
gets dark there is light projected on the exhibits, which is really nice to
see.
Here’s a
short video of a dinosaur moves and growls.
An
Interactive Area
From the
dinosaur’s area, you get to the interactive area, which is a rest, refresh and
play area. There are areas for resting, painting, a small amusement park and
photo areas (the area where the red sign is – on the bottom right of the
photograph below is a fossil searching area).
Ice Age
Area
After
some rest, you can continue to the Ice Age area. The big mammoth impressed up
especially. The children were sorry it was extinct. Parts of the animals shown
in this area exist today, such as polar bear, panda bear, bison, etc. If you
can’t make it to the Safari in Africa, the big parks in the USA or China, it is
an opportunity to see what these animals look like, in full size.
3D Movie
The last
stop at the Dinosaurs exhibition is a 3D movie in an air-conditioned hall. An
animated science fiction movie of the big gang is played here with many
effects. The movie is in Hebrew.
The
Dinosaurs and Ice Age Exhibition in well-suited for small children and it is
best to go there in the evening, when it is not too hot, and to see also the
exhibition when it is dark and the exhibits are lighted.
The
Dinosaurs and Ice Age Exhibition is located at the garden of Eretz Israel museum
in Ramat Aviv. It is accessible, but there’s a bit of a walk, some up/downhill
to get to the exhibition area that is located at the western part of the
garden.
The
Dinosaurs and Ice Age Exhibition will be open during the months of July and
August 2016. Prices start around 81 NIS. The exhibition website offers family
tickets.
